Apple Sangria

Printable recipe for Apple Sangria provided by Cooks Corner, Green Bay.

APPLE SANGRIA (serves 4)

3 1/2 cups chopped Honeycrisp Apples or other sweet apples
1/2 cup Calvados (apple brandy)
1/2 cup of honey
4 whole cloves
3 cinnamon sticks
2 slices (1/4 inch) peeled fresh ginger
1 orange, sliced
1 bottle fruity red wine (such as Beaujolais)
1/2 cup club soda, chilled
Extra orange, apple and cinnamon sticks for garnish
Combine the first 8 ingredients in a large bowl and stir. Refrigerate 4-6 hours.
Strain the mix thru a sieve into a bowl. Discard solids. Pour 2/3 cup sangria over ice into 4 glasses, top with a little club soda and stir. Garnish with additional orange, apple or cinnamon stick.
