The past two seasons the alfalfa crop has been below normal and so reserves are tight. it was hoped that this years crop would be better...and despite the cold spring the quality of the crop is good thus far
To produce quality milk you need quality forages...and that is why the alfalfa crop is so important to wisconsin dairy producers. The last two seasons the crop has been below average and that is why growers are hopeful that this crop year would be better. In talking with area crop consultants and ag agents , despite the slow start, the crop has the potential to be pretty good.
