Spring Fields Delays

After improving conditions.... weather took a turn for the worse over the weekend and with yesterdays snow and todays' cold spell further delays are expected before farmers wuill be able to get out and do spring fieldwork
After improving conditions..and a couple of days with temperatures above normal...there was optimisim over farmers getting into their fields. But following a soggy weekend
and now a cold spell, more delays are expected. As of sunday top soil moisture levels are rated at 35% surplus and according to the Wisconsin Ag Statistics Service the only activity we are seeing is some manure hauling in drier areas and a very limited seeding of oats.
As for the alfalfa crop, concerns remain and many crop consultants and ag agents are advising growers to take a look especially at the older alfalfa stands.
