Farm bill conferees held their first public meeting today as they began their efforts to find common ground on a new long term farm bill. Although there are many differences between the two versions of the farm the biggest hurdle looks to be the nutrition and snap provisions of the House and Senate bills
The Farm Bill Conference Committee held their first public meeting today, with each of the 41 members given a chance to speak. The task a head will be challenging as there are several differences between the House and Senate version of the bill, with the biggest challenge coming in finding consensus between the House and Senate version on SNAP and the Nutrtion sections. Some feel that element may be a deal breaker while others feel that Congress does want to pass some legislation this year and the farm bill may be that item.
