Early Wednesday morning, 911 dispatchers were flooded with calls about an apparent sag in the bridges road structure. The calls prompted Green Bay Police to close the road around 5:30 a.m. The bridge is a vital link to major highways across the state, and it's shutdown means a re-route for both local and state traffic. Governor Walker adjusted his schedule and made an impromptu trip to Green Bay to help enforce the message of the DOT- that safety is and will remain the number one priority when it comes to solving the problem of the Leo Frigo Bridge.
The bridge is closed indefinitely until further notice.
