APPLETON (WFRV) - The farmer's market in Appleton has hundreds of visitors every week. Now that several guns were openly carried several weeks ago--- which is legal---- one group of protesters are looking to make a point.
Mark Scheffler walked around the farmer's market with a chicken which is a clear violation of a city ordinance. Live animals are not permitted at farm markets for health and safety reasons. However, he was protesting the gun owners that walk around the market with their loaded weapons in clear view.
Scheffler could have been fine $263.50 for bringing in the chicken to the farmer's market. He wants state law makers to restrict the open carry to rural areas.
