GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) - What's frustrating for some is fantastic for others.
"I've seen way more traffic than usual," said Gwen Greeley.
Both on the road and inside her store. Greeley works at the Citgo gas station on Velp avenue. Since the Leo Frigo Bridge closed Wednesday, she said more customers are stopping in.
"Very busy and a lot of new faces in the store," she said. "Usually the store has regulars that I see every day and there's been a lot of new faces."
Last year, Green Bay's stretch Velp Avenue was completely redone. It caused a lull in traffic. So businesses are calling a detour like this a welcome sight.
The construction project is a time Maria Torres remembers well. She works at Gerczak's Liquor Store.
"Now that the road is all new and everything," she explained. "there are more people going down Velp."
And now with a detour that takes a lot more traffic right past the store...
"Like tripled," Torres said about the traffic. "It's gotten very heavy. I know it will have a big impact."
Hopefully an impact on overall exposure and their bottom line.
"The boss will be happy. That's for sure," added Greeley.
