Business helps residents in need of propane

Mary's Place in Pembine served up eggs, bacon, rolls and the chance for residents to get desperately needed propane.
PEMBINE, Wis.(WFRV) - Mary's Place in Pembine served up eggs, bacon, rolls and the chance for residents to get desperately needed propane.

More than 100 hundred people showed up to file out credit applications with Larsen Cooperative to purchase propane.  Many homes in the Pembine, Beecher and surrounding areas are served by another provided, which ran out of propane.

Kim Leisner, Energy Sales Representative with Larsen Cooperative, says her company found a propane supplier in Kansas that had ample supplies.  Larsen dispatched trucks to the terminal, resulting in waits of 8-12 hours.  That's also boosted the price to $ 6.99 per gallon. Last week, the price was $2.21.  New customers, however, will be only be able to purchase a maximum of 100-gallons.

But residents say they have little choice but to pay to keep heat going and for cooking.
