APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) - The Appleton city council gave the go ahead to the Appleton Fire Department's request to buy a new fire truck.
The department is looking to replace its current ladder truck.
It's 14 years old and has cracked torque box that will take 3 to 4 months to fix.
The department asked the city council for around $200,000 towards the cost of the new truck. The remainder would be covered by the department's existing funds.
The council has also voted to put a hold on an ordinance banning certain murals.
The vote comes after this mural of two children on the side of Wilmar Chocolates in Appleton came under fire for violating city code.
Alderman Joe Martin introduced a resolution that would allow tasteful murals as long as they're approved by the common council.
The city council will decide a course of action after it reviews the policy.
