Business Burglary Leads to Arrest

A 24-year-old man is behind bars, suspected of breaking into a local business.
APPLETON, Wisc. (WFRV) A 24-year-old man is behind bars, suspected of breaking into a local business.

Appleton Police say they were called to the 2300 block of West College Avenue around 1am Sunday. A witness reported seeing a man throwing an object at the front window of a business, which was located in a commercial building. 

Officers found the male behind the building. The suspect took off running. 

After a short foot chase and struggle, officers were able to get him.

The suspect has been identified as 24-year-old Steven Tessen, a resident of a local shelter.

A damaged safe was found in the area where Tessen was located. He had a large amount of cash on him, along with multiple cellphones and a large knife.

Tessen is being held on a charge of burglary while armed with a dangerous weapon. Police are also asking for charges of resisting arrest and damage to property.
