Green Bay City Council votes on Walmart Issue

Acting on a recommendation from the city plan commission, the council has decided the land on North Broadway should be reclassified as downtown.
GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) - Tuesday night, the Green Bay City Council voted to support a proposal that could block Walmart from building a supercenter downtown.
Acting on a recommendation from the city plan commission, the council has decided the land on North Broadway should be reclassified as downtown. It's currently classified industrial.

A downtown designation would mean no commercial store could be built larger than 70,000 square feet and it would have to be multi-story. Walmart wants to build a 150,000 square foot one-story supercenter.
