Job Fair Today

Hundreds of workers affected by layoffs will get their chance at new jobs today.
OSHKOSH, Wisc. (WFRV) Hundreds of workers affected by layoffs will get their chance at new jobs today.

Oshkosh Corporation will be hosting a job fair at the Oshkosh Convention Center from 8am-5pm. Nearly 30 employers will be on hand, looking to fill about 1600 jobs.

Back in April, Oshkosh Corp announced it would reduce the Defense workforce in Oshkosh by about 700 hourly positions due to tight government budgets and a return to peacetime operations.

The company  says that due to attrition, early retirement and laying off contractors, the  number of jobs affected by the layoff is now down to 536. Those layoffs will begin in July, according to the company.

Today's job fair is not open to the public. It is only for those facing the pending layoffs at Oshkosh Corporation.
