GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) Many Packers fans got their first look at the recent improvement at Lambeau Field Friday night. The north end of the stadium has undergone a number of changes.  One created specifically for the fans, is without a doubt a huge success.

Outside the newly renovated Harlan Plaza sits a new statue, drawing a huge crowd.

"I saw it on the news," said one fan. "I had to give it a try."

What this man and thousands of others fans like 8-year-old Nicholas Brinkman had to do, was to get their picture taken on the "Lambeau Leap Wall."

"Happy, excited, it made me feel like I scored a touchdown," said the young boy.

This statue is a tribute to the Lambeau Leap - started back in 1993, when former Packers safety LeRoy Butler jumped into the end zone stands after scoring a touchdown. At the beginning of August, Butler himself did the unveiling.

"It was very spontaneous," said Butler. "I can't even tell a fib and say I thought about it."

Friday night before kick-off the wall was where everyone wanted to be; groups of friends.

"It's cool to get a picture like that and put it in a photo book and remember," said Joe Head.

Long-time fans.

"It originated here," said Adam Fenn-White from Kenosha. "It's an icon for sure and everybody tried to do it, but they can't be like us - they can't be like us."

Fathers and young sons.

"This is his first time here," said Andy Brinkman, Nicholas' dad. "He was excited to come - I don't think he slept all night."

All captivated by a statue symbolizing the connection between the team and the fans and a Packers tradition that will never die.

"It's unique because it doesn't happen everywhere," said Head. "It's not original if they do it anywhere else but Lambeau Field."

You can find the Lambeau Leap Wall just outside the entrance to the new Packers Pro Shop.
