Local sailors capture their own sinking on video

A Fond du Lac man and his friend are swept up in a wind gust that capsizes their sailboat and it's all caught on video.
(WFRV) - Twenty-three year old Christopher Stolte and his girlfriend were out on Lake Winnebago last month when a gust of wind caused him to lose his grip on the rudder.  The result was the boat slowly rolling over and filling with water.  The entire incident was captured on video by a camera he had moounted on the boat's mast.

Once the water started coming in, the boat sank in just fifteen seconds.

What saved the pair was they both had their life jackets already on, and Chris had his cell phone in a water tight container so he was able to call for help. Chris told WFRV's Donald Robinson that boaters should, "make sure they have all their required safety gear and some sort of communication device with them."

The pair was not hurt and the boat has been recovered.
