Propane shortage funds granted

While the president was in town, Governor Scott Walker made sure to bring up the state's recent propane shortage.
MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WFRV) - While the president was in town, Governor Scott Walker made sure to bring up the state's recent propane shortage.

And, with that discussion, Wisconsin is now receiving over $14 million in federal funding to help fix the problem. The announcement came this afternoon from Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius.

Governor Walker says the grant will bring much-needed relief for Wisconsin. "Last weekend, I declared an emergency so we could make moves more quickly," Walker said in his weekly radio address. "On Monday, I met with the propane industry. The state will put up $8 million to help the many small businesses that deliver propane get lines of credit so none of the propane is sitting at suppliers when it needs to be getting to homes."

In a released statement, U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin praised the president's action to help with the propane shortage, saying, in part, "I applaud the Obama Administration for taking this action in response to the crisis faced by Wisconsin families and businesses."
