Settlement reached for Lower Fox River cleanup

The damage claims were brought by the federal and state government, along with the Menominee, and Oneida Indian tribes.

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WFRV) - A settlement has been reached in federal court over the cleanup of PCBs from the lower Fox River.

According to the agreement, the City of Appleton, the Neenah-Menasha Sewerage Commission, CBC Coating, Inc., Menasha Corporation, U.S. Paper Mills Corp, and WTM I Company will pay a combined total of $54 million to help cover the cleanup process.

The damage claims were brought by the federal and state government, along with the Menominee, and Oneida indian tribes.

The deal must still be formally approved by a federal judge.
