According to the Brown County Sheriff's Office, the 49 year old man was taken into custody after a short car chase in Green Bay early Wednesday morning.
Investigators say they found 24.5 grams of heroin inside of a diaper bag in the suspect's car. The heroin was valued at around $8,000.
"The heroin that we're having in this area is coming from Chicago," Said Lt. Dave Poteat, BCDTF director.
Lt. Poteat said they started investigating the man last week, believing he's been trafficking heroin into green bay from Chicago for the past eight months. Undercover officers purchased just over four grams from the suspect on Monday.
"We followed him back to the Green Bay area," explained Lt. Poteat. "where we attempted to make a traffic stop. That suspect then fled from us."
Officers then chased the man for about three miles down East Mason Street. the suspect hit a car, then fled on foot near Clay Street.
"I found out it was drug dealers," said Tina Miller, who lives on Clay Street. "Oh my god, a sting. I don't know. It just freaked me out."
Miller said the man was caught by police near her backyard. She and her kids were inside sleeping.
"I like this area. I like the schools and I don't want that for them," she said about her kids. "I don't want them to see that kind of stuff. I don't want them a part of it and it's heartbreaking to know that it's happening right here."
The suspect is currently being held at the Brown County Jail on multiple drug charges.
