The men's basketball team locked up their first conference title in nearly two decades.
That means for the first time in history, The Horizon League Tournament will be held at the Resch Center.
"All season it has been building to this they have been winning" says Terry Charles, Public Relations Manager for PMI Entertainment Group.
"I think it is awesome" says UW Green Bay student Greg Stellmacher. We can kind of say in your face to the other campuses that are a little bigger than us but with D1 sports. It is a huge achievement".
The tournament takes place March 7th and 8th with the Phoenix taking the court on Saturday.
"Green Bay is Titletown and just that word has incredible aura around it" says Mary Ellen Gillespie, Director of Athletics for UW Green Bay.
Momentum has been building all season with ticket sales following suit.
The team's average attendance is more than 3,500 fans, leading the horizon league.
"At the end of every game there are little kids waiting to bombard the players and that number of kids waiting to get to touch our players, our student athletes has grown tremendously" Gillespie says.
Stellar performance on the court is a great recruitment tool for new students.
"It is almost a commercial for the institution" she says.
The tournament is also a big win for the Resch Center.
"Obviously the more people we get in this building, they are seeing our advertisements for the other events that are coming here" says Charles.
The winner of the Horizon League Tournament earns an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, something the Green Bay men's team has not been a part of in 18 years.
"This is one big step in our ultimate goal, our ultimate vision. Right now we have to get back to work and continue to get better" says UW Green Bay head basketball coach Brian Wardle.
Tickets go on sale Monday at 11:00 am.
You can get them through Ticket Star either online, by phone and or here at the box office.
March 7th and 8th will be a busy weekend in the stadium district. The Green Bay Gamblers also had games scheduled.
They have been moved to the Brown County Arena.
