Volunteers help Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary prepare for spring

Thirty employees from Ameriprise Auto and Home Insurance helped out during the sanctuary's spring clean up event.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) - A group of volunteers helped Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary get ready for spring on Friday.

Thirty employees from Ameriprise Auto and Home Insurance helped out during the sanctuary's spring clean up event.

The group helped plant trees and added new wood chippings around buildings and trails. Other jobs included cleaning park areas and removing invasive species.

Assistant Director Ben Nelson says they appreciate the help.

"We have volunteers help us maintain our grounds," he says, "work on different projects throughout the year, so yes, volunteers play a big role in the wildlife sanctuary and its survival."

This was the third year they've done these projects.
