Water clarity improving for sturgeon spearing

According to the Wisconsin DNR the water clarity has improved since the last reading on January 9.
WISCONSIN (WFRV) - According to the Wisconsin DNR the water clarity has improved since the last reading on January 9.

There appears to be 14-16 feet of visibility throughout most of Lake Winnebago.

The DNR says the conditions should lead to a successful sturgeon spearing season that gets underway on Saturday.

The agency calls this the best spearing conditions they have seen in a number of seasons.

However, the ice is also closing in on record thickness.
