400 foot flag pole dedicated in Sheboygan near I-43. Worlds talles freedom symbols dwarfs the Statue of Liberty
SHEBOYGAN (WFRV) It was a beautiful day to prepare the colors to salute America, and remember veterans."

"We thank thee for giving victory to valiant men and women who have given their last measure of strength..." prayed a VFW Chaplain.

Acuity Insurance raised a 120-by-60 foot flag up the World's Largest Symbol of Freedom during dedication ceremonies. The four-hundred-foot flag pole honors veterans. Company officials and Governor Scott Walker say the monument remembers what veterans fought for, and honors industrial firms that helped ensure victory.
.

"Broadwinds (Energy) was a submarine manufacturing company in World War Two. They have grandchildren who are welders who carry on that tradition," said Acuity Insurance President/CEO Ben Salzmann.

"A great reminder of the freedoms that we hold dear in this country and certainly here in the state. Combined with that, it's a great testimony to all the veterans," the governor said.

For some who attended today's ceremony, Sheboygan was a must stop to see such a grand display of patriotism and also a chance to celebrate some of the freedoms we enjoy.

"We decided to stop up since we're heading up north on vacation and I just graduated," said Jennifer Lubinski of Milwaukee.

"A nice thing for Sheboygan and a nice remembrance," said Wesley Gosse, a Korea War veteran from Sheboygan
