Youth Sexting Investigation in Oshkosh

According to the police department three teenage males and a 12 year old girl sent naked pictures to each other about three weeks ago.

Oshkosh Police say three teenage boys and a 12-year-old girl have been referred for disorderly conduct after exchanging nude photographs through their cell phones.

"It's troubling", says Officer Joe Nichols. "It's a child, a twelve-year-old child that i think was coaxed into doing these types of things from the older males that were there."

All four are students at Oshkosh's Valley Christian School. Two of the boys are 14, the other is 15.

Winnebago County District Attorney Christian Gossett says it's the youngest sexting case he's seen.

Because of the ages involved, he says the case will likely be turned over to the department of human services.

"These are serious matters," says Gossett. "Often times with younger people, the idea is to try and stop the behavior, not necessarily to penalize for the activity. but really the damage that's done is the reputational harm, the permanency of photos that are sent out in this matter."

Police say at least one photo was taken on school property, leading school officials to launch an investigation.

OSHKOSH, Wis. (WFRV) - Four minors in Oshkosh could be facing charges. Oshkosh Police say they texted nude photos with their cell phones.

According to the police department three teenage males and a 12 year old girl sent naked pictures to each other about three weeks ago.

The photos had been erased prior to the investigation.

All parents were notified by the Oshkosh Police Department.

The four juveniles were released to their parents after interviews were conducted.

Police remind parents to talk with their children about the dangers of sending inappropriate pictures of themselves while texting or using a computer.

They say once the information is sent, it can be shared by many in the matter of a few seconds.

Officers also remind people that possession of sexually explicit photos or videos of a minor, by anyone, is a crime.
