TOWN OF LAWRENCE, Wisc. (WFRV) This cold snap saved the life of a woman and her passenger after she drove her car out on the ice.

A little after 3am Thursday, the female was driving west on Lost Dauphin Road, near Sunrise River Court, when she lost control of her vehicle. She ran into some trees and brush, then ended up on the Fox River, about 30 feet out.

Thankfully, because of the recent cold snap, the river was frozen so the vehicle never went in.

The female and her passenger were able to get out of the car and walk to safety.

According to Hobart-Lawrence Police Chief Randy Bani, the woman told officers she was showing her passenger Lake Michigan when she lost control.

The woman was cited for driving under the influence.
