Fox Valley Tech celebrates 30 years of Adopt-a-Family

Fox Valley Technical College has reached a major charity milestone.
Appleton, Wis.(WFRV)- Fox Valley Technical College is celebrating a holiday milestone. For over 30 years, the college has made the lives of it's students in need more enjoyable around Christmas time through their Adopt-a-Family program.

The families of more than 650 students have received gifts since 1983 when the Adopt-a-Family program first started. Since then, 22 families have been selected each year.

"The people who volunteer at the college get involved with this because it's their way of giving back to those students who are there everyday in the hall and in their classrooms," said Mary Hansen, Co-chair of Adopt-a-Family, "They know how much it's going to mean to them in the holidays."

The program is made possible through current and former staff members as well as student organizations.
