The drive was put together by an organization called "Patriot Smiles" that collects letters, snacks or personal care items for service members. Those involved with the project say it's all about sending soldiers a little piece of Christmas.
"A lot of times, it brings them a little bit of comfort and it reminds them of home," says Jennifer Ross of the Army National Guard who has been on tour overseas, "A lot of times when things are really not going very well over there it just gives them something to look forward to."
Any monetary donations go towards sending children of the soldiers to summer camps. Collections will be accepted until December 6th.
