Latest on downtown Green Bay Walmart proposal

The decision of a downtown Green Bay Walmart could land in the hands of the voters if the City Council agrees to it.
GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) - The decision of a downtown Green Bay Walmart could land in the hands of the voters if the City Council agrees to it.

Walmart has proposed to build a 150,000 square foot Supercenter on the Larsen Green Property in the Broadway District. Now, it's being asked that city leaders place a referendum on the spring ballot.

Part of the request that is expected to be read at next Tuesday's City Council meeting reads, "The decision to allow Walmart in downtown Green Bay will affect the entire community, and an advisory referendum is the only way to ensure the will of the majority of the people living in out community will be carried out"

Walmart is hosting a neighborhood meeting at the Neville Public Museum next Wednesday.
