Little Chute firefighters practice in case of a bus crash

Chief Mark Jansen says the exercise is meant to inform firefighters of any or all scenarios they may face in the field.
LITTLE CHUTE, Wis. (WFRV) - The Little Chute Fire Department, made up of all volunteers, held a training exercise today on what to do in case of a school bus crash.

The training took about two hours. It included stabilizing both disabled vehicles and drilling an entry way into the bus itself.

Chief Mark Jansen says the exercise is meant to inform firefighters of any or all scenarios they may face in the field.

"It's more of a learning type process right now,” he says. “We're not doing it as a true scenario as far as we want to practice and make sure we're doing everything properly. We want to get all of our mistakes out of the way here instead of on the highway or whatever. "

The chief says that the exercise helps train volunteers in the event of any kind of bus crash.
