Local businesses capitalize on bridge closing

Local businesses do their part to help bring in the extra traffic

Green Bay, Wis. (WFRV) - With the Leo Frigo Bridge being closed for the foreseeable future, some downtown businesses are taking advantage of the new traffic by adding special promotions to draw in the crowd.

"To some it may be making lemonade out of lemons, but it really is an opportunity knocking," said Jeff Mirkes, Executive Director at Downtown Green Bay, Inc.

Downtown Green Bay and On Broadway reached out to dozens of storefronts. They hope that with the newly rerouted traffic, many will find a new appreciation for the downtown.

Titletown Brewing Company and Captain's Walk Winery are currently running promotions. Other businesses are expected to join later this week.
