Local firefighter killed in Dodge County crash

The Grand Chute Fire Department announced today that their Fire Prevention Specialist, Jesse Pickett, was killed in a crash over the weekend.
GRAND CHUTE, Wis. (WFRV) - The Grand Chute Fire Department announced today that their Fire Prevention Specialist, Jesse Pickett, was killed in a crash over the weekend.

His family was returning from a vacation in the Wisconsin Dells area on Sunday.

According to the Sheriff's Office the crash involved a semi tractor trailer and a passenger car. 

Pickett died at the scene of the crash, his wife Misty and two young daughters were also injured and taken to a Madison area hospital.

He has served on the Grand Chute Fire Department since February of 2009.

Pickett was the department's public information officer, working closely with the local media.

His dedication to serving the community was evident in the number of events he volunteered for. He also dedicated his time to educating students about fire safety and helped host a free fire prevention event for the Grand Chute community every year. Greif counselors are meeting with firefighters and town employees.

Funeral arrangements are pending at this time.
