Local Music Scene on Grammy Night

It's music's biggest night and while Wisconsin isn't represented at Sunday's 56th annual Grammy Awards, our local talent is still something to talk about.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) -It's music's biggest night and while Wisconsin isn't represented at Sunday's 56th annual Grammy Awards, our local talent is still something to talk about.

On Saturday night alone, Banana's Entertainment, the No. 1 live entertainment agency in Wisconsin, managed five band appearences between Oshkosh and Green Bay.

For Billybob Boor, who is relatively new to the entertainment industry, discovering Wisconsin's music scene was a journey in itself.

"I mean, I always loved to sing," said Boor. "But I had kids young and focused on the family. I got found singing at a Martini Bar karaokeing."

Banana's manages nearly 50 bands across Wisconsin. They offer everything from country, to 80's rock to original tunes.

"It's happening here," said Ryan Vandersanden, an agent with Banana's. "And it's a testament to so many bands that we actually have that are working consistently and are playing as many clubs, venues and festivals as they are."

And fans, from all over the area, tell Local 5 that they'll travel near and far to see some of their favorite artists perform.

"I love the music scene here," said Kara Winkel. "I love seeing live bands. It's nice when you can find a favorite band and go anywhere to them and they're free!"
