NE Wisconsin's best manufacturers honored

The awards serve to recognize the manufacturers who set themselves apart from the rest of the industry.
ASHWAUBENON, Wis. (WFRV) - The best and brightest of northeast Wisconsin's manufacturing community were honored Tuesday night.

It was during the 2013 Manufacturing Awards of Distinction, put on by the Green Bay Area Vhamber of Commerce.

The awards serve to recognize the manufacturers who set themselves apart from the rest of the industry.

Governor Scott Walker was the special guest speaker and Local 5's very own Tom Zalaski had the honor of serving as the emcee.

Nominees were judged based on company size, operational excellence, financial growth and community support.

Governor Walker says the nominees all play a big role in the state's economy.  

"Manufacturing is by far the state's biggest industry," Governor Walker says, "it makes up about 20 % of the state's economy and northeast Wisconsin is one of the most affected areas for manufacturing in the entire state."

Turning to the big winners, Precision Machine of Algoma won the small company award.  N.E.W. Plastics Corporation of Luxemburg won the medium company award. Ariens Company of Brillion won the large company award. Lindquist Machine Corporation won the Workforce Development Award. Solberg Company of Green Bay won the environmental sustainability award.
