New Northeast Wisconsin Phone Scam

Involves Wisconsin State Patrol.

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WFRV) - A new phone scam is going around northeast Wisconsin involving the Wisconsin State Patrol.

Here's how it works: the caller identifies himself as a state trooper, and asks for money to pay for damage repairs caused by the person's child or grandchild.

The callers have been identifying themselves as "Sergeant Walker" from the State Patrol's Green Bay office, and say they need $900 to keep them from filing charges.

According to the State Patrol, they would never call to ask anyone for money.

If you have been scammed, you're asked to call the Wisconsin State Patrol.
