Flames ripped through the Log Jam Saloon in Oconto early Wednesday morning.

CITY OF OCTONTO, Wis. (WFRV) - Flames ripped through the Log Jam Saloon in Oconto early Wednesday morning.

On Thursday, officials said the cause of the fire is suspcious in nature.

Oconto's police chief says some of the things in their investigation have raised eyebrows.

Officials, who responded at around 12:30 a.m., said flames were visible from the second story windows. The second story of the tavern was vacant apartments.

The Pensaukee Fire Department and Oconto Falls Fire Department were both called to the scene, as well.

"I'd say the suppresion was probably handled within four to five hours," said Chief Jack Mlnarik, Oconto Fire Rescue. "We just had some hot spots we needed to take care of and then we're doing an investigation right now."

Nearly ten hours after flames broke out, crews were still on scene.

No one was injured in the fire. The estimated loss to the building and contents is approximately $98,000.
