Police investigate series of apartment rental frauds

Police are investigating a series of fraud cases that some residents have faced when trying to rent an apartment.

 

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) - Police are investigating a series of fraud cases that some residents have faced when trying to rent an apartment.

 

According to the Green Bay Police Department, eight victims have come forward with information about ads posted on Craigslist in mid-December.

 

Police say they believe that there are more victims who have not come forward yet.

 

According to authorities, the man who perpetrated the frauds used the fake names of "Nate Anderson or Jake or Jacob Anderson."

 

Police say the frauds took place at 1730 Eastman Ave, 604 S. Maple Ave. and 1451 Western Avenue.

 

They say the man would issue a receipt for money collected with the fake name.

 

If you have recently contacted someone to look at any of these addresses and gave money for a security deposit to rent any of these addresses, call the Green Bay Police Department at (920) 448-3208.
