Principal spends night on school roof

GREENVILLE, Wis. (WFRV) - One local middle school principal and several of his faculty members were in for a cold night Thursday night, but it was all because of a good cause

Travis Lawrence, the Principal of Greenville Middle School, told his students that if they collected 11,000 canned food items for their annual food drive, he will spend a night on the school's roof.

Greenville Middle School's students smashed the goal, collecting more than 12,000 items.

Lawrence is spending the night with two teachers, Andrew Mulloy and Mike Paltzer, and says he and his fellow educators will be taking to social media to show that they're out up there.

"We are going to send out some tweets frequently with some pictures and some video to let them know that we are indeed going to stay up there the entire evening so," he says.

The school has been holding its food drive for more than 20 years.
