Proposed Brown County 2014 budget to lower property tax

The proposed 2014 Brown County budget will be released at noon Tuesday at the Neville Public Museum.

Green Bay, Wis. (WFRV) - Next year's budget for Brown County comes in at $266 million, which is a four percent bump from the previous year.

Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach said that this is the third year in a row that the budget has succeeded in decreasing the tax levy.

"It makes a lot of great investments in a multiple different disciplines that Brown County is involved in,' Streckenbach said. "Everything from human services to public safety."

Other investments include a proposed business, research and technology park, which would be only 1 of 6 in the state. Streckenbach said that the facility would encourage entrepreneurs to make their home in the area.

The budget also proposes a slight wage  increase for Brown County employees.

The budget will be introduced to the public noon Tuesday at the Neville Public Museum. And the final budget will be approved by the county board in November.
