Green Bay, Wis. (WFRV) Green Bay's Redevelopment Authority unanimously approved today the KI Convention Center expansion.
The project would add an additional 30,000 square feet in usable space to the center and its new size would attract more conventioneers to Green Bay.
Jeff Mirkes from the RDA said the expansion is the public investment in a facility that generates activity and future business.
"We're going to pick up a lot of business," said Mayor Jim Schmitt. "It's having a facility that has about 75,000 square feet in the heart of downtown, with parking and all the amenities."
The architect of the project will offer new renderings to the RDA in a couple of weeks.
The expansion will break ground in November pending city council approval.
