Santa Arrives at EAA in Helicopter

THOUSANDS CAME OUT TO THE AIRVENTURE MUSEUM IN OSHKOSH MONDAY NIGHT FOR E.A.A'S ANNUAL 'CHRISTMAS IN THE AIR' EVENT.
Santa Clause is well known for traveling by sleigh, but Monday night, he chose a different form of transportation.

It may be the one time of year he comes in on a helicopter," said EAA Marketing Associate Megan Schuessler. "Very few people around here have that capability, so we like to make a unique entrance for Santa here."

The visit was a major highlight of the annual event, which drew an estimated 4,000 people to the Airventure Museum. Many of the guests come year after year - including Oshkosh resident Debbie Schneider.

"My kids are not little anymore, but we get just as much enjoyment as the little one's do," she said.

The open house featured over a dozen musical groups, free chocolate tasting, and free tours of the museum.

"To see all the people performing for the holidays - tie it in with that, it's just a great opportunityt to do both so I love it," said Oshkosh Resident Chuck Crane.

Officials say more than anything, the event is a chance to thank the local community for it's year round support.

"They are very welcoming to our over 500,000 guests that come to Airventure every year," said Schuessler. "So we really just wanted to have an open house type of event for them to say thank you, come in enjoy us, see that we're open all year round and we have many things to offer."
