Future cold snap could close area schools

Temperatures early next week could force officials to close area schools.

Appleton, Wis. (WFRV)- Area school districts could cancel classes early next week if temperatures drop consistently into the dangerously low category. Currently, that's exactly what is forecast.

When it comes to canceling classes, the Appleton area school district says those types of decisions are not made normally until the day of. If officials decide to cancel school they would do so no later than 6 a.m. the morning of. The decision is based on a combination of local and national forecasts that would warn of -35 degree temperatures that pose a major threat for frostbite.
