Traffic Backups Likely for Tonight's Game

The evening commute, along with gameday traffic, will likely cause backups on area highways tonight.
GREEN BAY, Wisc. (WFRV) The evening commute, along with gameday traffic, will likely cause backups on area highways tonight.

Heavy congestion is expected on Highway 172 and Highway 41.

Officials from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation say they're calling in extra help to make everything goes as smooth as possible.

"We're going to have plenty of signage up, message boards and such," said Kim Radat from the DOT. "We're also going to have increased law enforcement. The State Patrol is going to be in the area. We're also going to have the freeway service teams. We're going to have at least one team working until 12:30 in the morning."

Radat said the best thing is to avoid Highway 172 and Highway 41 if possible, or readjust your commute time. Another option would be to take advantage of alternate routes to the stadium by taking either the Ashland Avenue, Oneida or Mason Street exit.
