Volunteers make a difference

A group of volunteers are making a difference in the Green Bay community.
Green Bay, Wis.(WFRV)- People from around Northeast Wisconsin gave a helping hand to those who needed it most on Saturday.

Dozens of people gathered at the Volunteer Center of Brown County for Make a Difference Day. The volunteers were paired with seniors or people with disabilities who need to get a couple chores done before winter sets in. Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt also participated.

"There's some students and some people here from larger corporations who are here helping this elderly couple out and raking their leaves and trimming their hedges," said Schmitt, "we're going to make a difference in the community and I think that's a great thing to do."

More than 3 million volunteers participated across the country in the Making a Difference program.
