Packers reaction to draft prospect coming out as gay

Packers "culture" would accept Michael Sam
Sunday night, former Missouri defensive end Michael Sam, who is a prospect for May's NFL Draft, came out as a gay man.  He stands to be the first openly gay player in NFL history.

On Monday, Packers head coach Mike McCarthy was asked his thoughts on the situation.

"Definitely have to feel he's a couragous young man, but my understanding is he's a talented player. We've always from day one talked about our program, about our culture and Ted and them are going thur the draft process right now and at the end of the day it comes down to good football players. Any player that can come here and be a good teammate, follow the rules of our program, be respectful, and produce on the football field, we got room for that guy."

Assistant head coach and linebackers coach Winston Moss echoed McCarthy's sentiments,

"Its all about can he play football? Its all about football. Around here its all about respect and at the end of the day if he's a good football player, if hes a good teammate then everything else will take care of itself."
