The big news surrounding the Green Bay Packers on Monday was the announcement that Brett Favre would return in 2015 to be inducted in the Packers Hall of Fame and have his number retired. That press conference was held during the day. Later that evening, the current crop of Packers hit the field for their first and only night workout of training camp. In pads again, McCarthy said it was the team’s final installation practice (Install 8). The practice lasted 2:21. McCarthy said the energy and tempo was outstanding.
Jerel Worthy and Letroy Guion did not practice again tonight. Joining them on the sideline was Jared Abbrederis (acl), Michael Hill (concussion suffered at family night) and Tanner Miller. Rookie TE Colt Lyerla was not at practice, after McCarthy confirmed Lyerla did injure his knee during family night and that he’ll be out weeks. Morgan Burnett and Brad Jones were thought to have injures during the workout – McCarthy would not comment on either.
After tweaking his ankle on Saturday, B.J. Raji was dressed out and a full participant. Rookie receiver Jeff Janis participated for the first time this camp after recovering from shingles.
The practice got heated when center JC Tretter and defensive end Luther Robinson got into it, clearing the benches. McCarthy didn’t comment on the scuffle after.
Mason Crosby continues to have a stellar camp, going 8-for-8 on field goal attempts. (33, 38, 42, 46, 46, 48, 53, 55)
