Rodgers not cleared, not ruled out for Sunday

Aaron Rodgers' status for Sunday's game against the Falcons remains up in the air.
Aaron Rodgers' status for Sunday's game against the Falcons remains up in the air.

Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said Tuesday that Rodgers has been cleared to practice, but hasn't yet been cleared to play in Sunday's game.

Rodgers broke his collarbone on November 4th against the Chicago Bears.  That game started a tailspin which has seen the Packers go 0-4-1 over the past five games.

On his weekly radio show on 540 AM in Milwaukee, Rodgers said he had hoped for better news, that he would be cleared to play in this week's game.  He said the strength in the injured area has started to come back, and is eager to see how it holds up in practice.

McCarthy added that Matt Flynn will get the starter's reps in Wednesday's practice.  He'll likely be the starter if Rodgers can't play.
