Aaron Rodgers ruled out of Sunday's game

The Packers will go without Aaron Rodgers once again on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys.
The Packers will go without Aaron Rodgers once again on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys.

Head coach Mike McCarthy announced Friday that Rodgers had been ruled out of Sunday's game, making it six consecutive contests Rodgers has missed since breaking his collarbone against the Bears on November 4th.

Optimism for a return was as high as it's been this week.  Rodgers practiced Wednesday and Thursday, and said he felt much better than he had last week - when he reported pain in the injured area.

However, Friday morning, McCarthy, Rodgers, and team physician Dr. Pat McKenzie met to discuss Rodgers' status from the game.  McCarthy characterized it as a "difficult morning"  as it was then that Rodgers was informed he wouldn't be playing Sunday.

So, the Packers will go into Dallas with Matt Flynn as the starting quarterback.  Green Bay enters the contest at 6-6-1, a half-game behind division leading Detroit and Chicago.
