New Blizzard coach Williams looks to turn things around

Tommie Williams has hit the ground running in his first week as Green Bay Blizzard coach

"It's been a whirlwind"

Tommie Williams doesn't have much time to adjust to his new job as Green Bay Blizzard head coach. With a game coming up Saturday, he's hit the ground running.

"I was part of the program briefly, so everything at this point is moving forward, being positive, getting a competitve football team on the football field, and I think we're on that way right now." said Williams.

As the team's offensive coordinator, Williams had an up-close look at the Blizzard's disappointing 0-6 start to the season, but he's not interested in looking back.

"We're going to move forward, nothing against coach (Chad) Baldwin, we're going to move forward with some different practice schedules, we're going to move forward with some different meal plans, we're going to move forward with some different schemes offensively and defensively. We've got some new coaches coming in that will help us out defensively and with special teams, and I'll take over the offense."

While there will be plenty of changes under coach Williams, one thing that will stay the same, is the quarterback. Oshkosh native Nate Wara will continue to be the signal caller for the Blizzard.

"He will be an outstanding quarterback in this league. He gives us a little bit of a different aspect, he'll take off and run, and that helps us with our scheme, and he can stand back in the pocket and throw the ball. He's got an outstanding offensive line in front of him. So once he understands the nuances of the indoor game, working with spacing, he'll be an outstanding player for us."

Green Bay hosts Tri-Cities on Saturday night, so what can fans expect under the new regime?

"They'll be able to see the changes that we've made, hopefully in a positive as we hope to get a victory. Some wholesale changes of aggresiveness, higher tempo, and hopefully we'll score a lot of points and get us the victory."
