Matt Flynn Will Start for Packers vs. Lions on Thanksgiving

Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy named his starter for Thursday's game with the Lions
(WFRV-TV) - Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy won't keep the Detroit Lions guessing.  Wednesday McCarthy named Matt Flynn his starting quarterback, and the team also announced that Aaron Rodgers was out this week while he continues to recover from a broken collarbone.

"He's taken all the starter reps this week and he's ready to go," McCarthy said of Flynn who replaced Scott Tolzien in the second half of Sunday's game vs. Minnesota.

"First, Monday we wanted to make sure Aaron had an opportunity to get down on the field and work," added McCarthy when asked about making the quarterback decision.  "Then as a staff as we went through the plan, Matt took the starter reps from Day 1. It’s like anything, you just wanted to make sure. I was more focused on getting them both ready as I stated on Monday."

The Packers could also see the return of three starters as the team listed CB Sam Shields (hamstring), OLB Nick Perry (foot), and RT Don Barclay (knee_ as "probable" for Thursday's game vs. the Lions.
