Packers place Cobb on IR/designated to return, sign White, Stoneburner

Injuries prompt Packers to make roster moves.
With injuries to Randall Cobb and James Jones, the Packers no doubt would be looking to upgrade their receiving core this week.

They will be promoting from within to do so.

The team announced roster moves on Tuesday.  They have placed Randall Cobb, who was injured against the Ravens on Sunday, on the injured reserve/designated to return list.

The new IR designation, created last season, can be used once a season.  By rule, Robb cannot practice for 6 weeks and cannot play for 8.  It was reported Monday that Cobb is expected to miss 6-8 weeks.

Green Bay also placed offensive lineman Greg Van Roten on season-ending injured reserve with a foot injury.

In place of Cobb and Van Roten, Green Bay signed wide receiver Myles White and tight end Jake Stoneburner from the team's practice squad.

Green Bay returns to the practice field on Wednesday in preparation for Sunday's matchup with the Cleveland Browns at Lambeau Field.
