Allouez saw a surge of registered sex offenders moving in over the past year.
Several of them had already been denied by Green Bay.
Now, a majority of Allouez is off limits as well.
"Having [kids] in safe parks, it eases their minds a little bit" says Nanny Megan Brockman.
She agrees with a plan in Allouez to keep registered sex offenders away from children.
"Well I think for all parents and people watching kids, the number one priority is the safety of their kids" she says.
Under the new rules, registered sex offenders are prohibited from living within 2,000 feet of schools, parks and places where kids gather.
Roughly 96 percent of the community is impacted.
"It makes me happy that they are addressing the situation. We do not want them near our kids or have our kids in danger in any way" says Allouez resident and mom, Annessa Goin.
The Village Board voted six to one to adopt the rules.
However, even those in favor know this is not a long-term solution.
Village President Steve Vanden Avond is hoping if more communities tighten their rules, lawmakers will be forced to address the issue at a statewide level.
"I do understand both sides because not all people are horrible people or anything, but as a nanny I would be concerned knowing that there were sex offenders living near the children I was watching" says Brockman.
Local sexual assault victim advocates have voiced opposition to restrictions like this in the past saying it makes offenders harder to keep track of.
Residents we spoke with did not have a solution for housing the offenders, but are happy it will not be in their back yard.
"It just makes me feel like there is less probability for them to be lurking in the area. We keep close eye on our kids as it is, you just want to make sure that they are going to be as safe as possible" says Goin.
There are an estimated 30 registered sex offenders already living in Allouez They will be allowed to stay.
