APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) - Appleton Police are looking for a dog that they say bit a man last Tuesday.

According to the Appleton Police Department, an 18-year-old Appleton man was approached by a Rottwiler while walking near the intersection of E. Eldorado Street and N. Union Street.

Police say the man attempted to greet the dog, which was not on a leash, by crouching down to the dog's level.

The man says the dog bit him on the top of his head, causing him to need stitches.
Police say a man claiming to be the dog's owner, spoke briefly to the victim. He was described as being a white, tall in stature with graying hair.

He didn't identify himself to the victim before leaving with the dog.

Police are trying to identify the dog and its owner to help with the investigation.
